Hey guys! In the spirit of October, I’m going to be showing you how to make a Halloween Pumpkin craft for your kids, just using a paper plate! This craft is super easy and can easily be done by your little preschooler (Or slightly older kids as well of course!). It could be a great alternative to carving a real pumpkin if for some reason you can’t, and your little one will love seeing their very own pumpkin hanging up around the house as one of mommy’s and daddy’s decorations! The best part? If you’re into crafting like I am, you can probably find all of the materials just lying around your house! No purchase necessary 🙂 So let’s get started!

Don’t forget to pin for easy access later!

Materials:

  • Paper plate
  • Orange acrylic paint (I bought this one on Amazon for about $2!)
  • Green pipe cleaners (Craft store, if you have none) (I bought a pack of 26 for 99 cents at JoAnns!)
  • Black felt/construction paper (I didn’t have any construction paper lying around so I bought 1 felt sheet for 49 cents at JoAnns!)
  • Elmer’s Glue/ hot glue gun (I use this one all the time, and it comes with a few hot glue sticks too!)
  • Scissors

Step 1:

This one is easy, I just painted the whole plate orange!

Next I used my felt and cut out eyes and a face for my little guy. This is the design I went with, but of course you can pick anything you or your child wants!

Step 3:

Next what I did was take two green pipe cleaners and made one into a loop to hang if wanted, then I wrapped a second one around the first and curled the ends around a pencil (You can just use your finger if you wanted)

Then I took my Elmer’s glue and glued the pipe cleaners to the back of the pumpkin plate. I ended up getting impatient waiting for the glue to dry and used a hot glue gun, which you can choose to do if you want. You can also just attach the pipe cleaners to a hole in the top if you have a hole punch, but I sadly don’t. Both methods will work just fine though!

And there you have it! A super easy Halloween Paper plate pumpkin craft for your kids! This idea I had was inspired by the tons of paper plate pumpkins I found on my Pinterest, which of course I use for all of my blog posts and ideas so follow me there for some great ideas!
